Kansas City gets $2.37M in stimulus for housing - Boston Business Journal:

The city department will distributd the money among already received submittals to the 2009 Consolidated Plan Request for Proposal tospeed distribution, the city said in a Thursdau release. “We weren’t able to fund a numbet of very good programs with the standardCDBG allocation, so this supplementargy funding will allow us to put some of thesed projects into action, which will put peoplde to work and improve our community,” actinh department Director Shirley Winn said in the The city’s housing committee will hear publicf testimony about use of the monegy at its May 27 meeting on the 10th floo of City Hall. The hearinb is scheduled to starftat noon.
“In exploring possible uses of these our goal is to have as open and transparenf process asis possible,” City Councilwomanj Sharon Sanders Brooks said in the release. Brookw also is chairwoman of thehousingy committee. “We will be selecting from the CDBG projectszpreviously submitted, but theres is a lot of room for flexibility among thosee projects, and that is wher e we hope public input helps providee direction,” she said.
